A Letter on Technology in M Summers French Class
Technology serves a major function in our class to collaborate, connect, discover, and create. Safety and proper usage of the chosen technology is therefore vital for our class to be successful. Please note that teachers, parents, and students should consult your local District Acceptable Use Policy for Technology so as to ensure that its policies and protocols are familiar with all parties so that they can be respected and upheld.
The following technology will be used during this verb conjugation unit:
1. Email: All students will be required to have an email account so that they can activate a Facebook account. If they do not have one already, please watch the Youtube video below to see how you can create a Gmail account for free. You do not need to use Gmail specifically, but I recommend this service because it is easy to set up, and has many other features that may help you in your studies.

2. Facebook: is a social media website that has many different tools to help students connect to one another. If you have not created a Facebook account already, the Youtube video underneath will show you how to set up an account, navigate around the site, and familiarize yourselves with some of its basic functions. Remember, before you begin to sign up for a Facebook account, you will need an email account (see above).
There are privacy issues associated with any social media site, so make sure you watch the tutorial below to inform and protect yourselves.
It is important to note that only Facebook users selected by the teacher will be able to see the posts and images shared on the group page, M Summers’ French Class. To get access to the group page you must first be friends with me. To
do this, send a friend request to Monsieurmr Summers once you have logged into your
Facebook profile. Watch the video underneath if you need help on how to do this.
Once I have added you as a friend, I will give you access to the M Summers’ French Class group page, where you can post, reply, and upload media.

3. Video/Digital Cameras: Students use video/digital cameras throughout the year to capture their learning and for presentations. At times, students work will be posted on the class’ group Facebook page. Directions on how to upload media onto the group page in Facebook will be covered in Section 3.
Consent Form
I have included a technology consent form that parents need to sign for any student under the age of 18. Please review this letter with your parents and sign together and return as soon as possible.
